All the files open with no banding on my computer. It is definitely a hardware problem on your machine. My guess is it's the video card as I've seen similar issues with other cards in the past. The good news is, the files you've downloaded are most likely fine •. I would recommend copying the Lightroom catalog from your SSD to the external 8 TB hard drive. Install Lightroom on your wife's computer, connect the external drive to your wife's computer, launch the Lightroom catalog and the banding should disappear.

You will need to select each of the Legacy media folders in the import dialog, then choose Add to the catalog. Lightroom can import the JPEG and TIF files just fine, but will not be able to import the BMP files as it doesn't recognize that format. You can use Photoshop, or some other file utility to convert the BMP files if needed. Since I'm not familiar with the Legacy application, I'm assuming the images are sitting in standard folders, not some type of database. If they're not in standard folders, then you might need to export the images out of Legacy before importing into Lightroom.

Did you properly rename the files during, or after importing. If not, then as DJ said you likely have duplicate file names and that is a problem. The sequence number the camera uses to name the files is not enough, the 2 cameras will use the same numbers for different files. I advise using the default (date-filename) template at a minimum during the import.

It may help for you to understand that the images you see in Lightroom are not the original images you imported. Lightroom creates a JPEG preview of each imported image (or a DNG preview if you are using Smart Previews.) As the others have explained, your original files are not stored in Lightroom, but are in a folder structure you have choosen during the import process.

The Library folder is hidden by default in OS 10.6. With Finder active, select the Go Menu, hold down Option key, and Library will appear, click to open the Library folder and follow Rodney's directions. Brad Polt-Jones

Have you confirmed that you have your printer and driver selected from the Print Settings button in Print Module? Have you confirmed from the Page Setup button in the Print Module that you have your correct printer selected and have defined a 13 x 19 page size?

If you are asking how to remove a hard drive from your Library, then right click and Remove the folders on the drive from Lightroom. The drive itself will no longer be associated with your catalog.

Here are my 2 cents. Your dad's photos are an amazing legacy for your family. I would merge the catalogs. I would first use your dad's computer to consolidate all your dad's images from the existing drives onto a new larger drive, then create a backup of that new drive. If necessary, build a simple unified folder structure from the top down, by moving the scattered folders from the original drives into a new logical order. When you merge the catalogs, you can keep the new drive with your dad's images independent from your drive. You can then create and use Collections where both your images and his can co-exist. From here, you can build slideshows, books, or online galleries to share the images.

How will these images be printed? Are you using your own printer, or are they going to an outside printing source? In Photoshop, I'm assuming you're using a Curves adjustment layer as a printer target adjustment to brighten the image for print. In Lightroom we can do a similar thing using Virtual Copies of the images synced to Develop Module changes. Very fast and efficient. You need to print a test image to see how it reproduces on the paper/ink combination you are using for the project, then make appropriate adjustments to the images in Photoshop or Lightroom.

Here is my workflow: 2124 images from a shoot (Outside Lands Music Festival). Cycle through the images in Library Module in Loupe view using the right arrow key. Tap X for each rejected image. 10 minutes later, 1847 images marked as Rejected. CMD/Delete - Delete from Disk - 1847 images gone. I have only needed to hit the delete key once. Fast, efficient, total control, it can't be any easier. If you adjust your workflow I think you will appreciate the method outlined here.

In theory it could help, but there are many other variables that can come into play. What is the old GPU that it is replacing? What OS are you using? Will the drivers be compatible with your system? It is difficult to predict how your performance will be affected by upgrading until you actually try it with your system.

It would be hard for me to recommend Lightroom 6 at this point. There are many new tools that are only available in the CC version, and Lightroom 6 will no longer be updated to include these features. The photography program subscription is only $9.95 a month, which includes the latest version of Photoshop and all the mobile tools (Lightroom Mobile is a fantastic app for both tablets and phones.) In my opinion, it is a good value.

As Geoff said, use the Export Catalog option. I would first set up a Collection of all the images you want to take with you, then right or control click on the Collection and choose, Export this Collection as a Catalog. Include the negative files to have full editing capabilities. Copy the newly exported catalog folder to your laptop. Then import the lrcat file back into the main catalog when you return.

Have you defined an export preset that you can use to maintain consistency each time you export the original JPEG's. Check to make sure the image size settings are consistent for the exported TIF. The metadata you've added will have little effect on the final size of a TIF. There is no need to use the 16-bit option if the original files are JPEG, as they are only 8-bit.

The last option that I can think of is to Synchronize the 2015 folder in Lightroom. Right click on the 2015 folder and choose Synchronize Folder. If that doesn't work, then try making a new temporary Catalog, call it Test, and import the 2015 folder into it. Do the the sub-folders appear now in the new catalog?

I have to ask, because everything should be working properly if you can see the 2015 folder in Lightroom. You have clicked on the expansion arrow next to the 2015 folder to expand the contents? If the folder is collapsed, you wont see any subfolders in Lightroom. If they are visible in the Finder, then they should be visible in Lightroom.

Why do you need to copies? If these copies are for your client, then you should be using the export dialog and choosing the file type, size, and other attributes your client needs. Explore the export dialog to see the options you have there.

What you did should work, unless that is not supported in Lightroom 5. Choosing a different folder from the default works as expected with Lightroom CC 2015.9 Also, your catalog backup should be on a different hard drive from the main catalog in case of drive failure.

This can be done in a single step. First go to Page Setup in the print module and define a page of 19.2 x 2". Then either create a custom layout or preferably use a template preset to the values you need. In the screenshot you can see I set the columns to six. Populate the template cells with the six images you want. Then use these settings to print to JPEG file. The final JPEG should be 1920 x 200 pixels. I assume you're referring to the grid overlay outlines appearing in tandem with the Loupe or Compare view. My first thought would be to run the Optimize Catalog function from the File menu, this often flushes out odd behavior. If this doesn't work, then reset your preferences.

This behavior is usually caused by permissions problems on the destination drive. Perhaps Lightroom is reading the drive permissions incorrectly, and choosing a different destination resolves the permission problem. I have solved this problem by using the OS to reset the permissions to Read & Write for a specific folder or drive.

I would try using the backup from Carbonite. That most likely will have the most recent data. If the most recent folders are still missing from the Carbonite backup, then you will need to reimport them. Re-importing of course will lose any edits that potentially would've been stored in the .lrcat file. As you determined, it is imperative to have a backup of your catalog stored on a separate drive or a cloud-based service like Carbonite.

You are most likely looking at an earlier Lightroom catalog. Lightroom is a database, not a file browser, so the catalog you're currently viewing doesn't show your current folder structure because those folders were not created yet in this older version of the Catalog. As Per said above, Go to File > Open Recent to see newer versions of your Lightroom catalog. Hopefully this will solve your problem.
